Background

 

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. IOM promotes concerted efforts among government, civil society and other actors for building an effective integrated system of prevention of trafficking in persons, protection assistance and reintegration of victims of trafficking.
The successful candidate will be contributing to the successful implementation of the project “Supporting Western Balkan Countries in Efficiently Responding to the Challenges Posed by Migration of Unaccompanied Minors” funded by the IOM Development Fund and implemented by the IOM missions in the Western Balkan countries in partnership with the relevant Government stakeholders in each country. The project sets as an overall objective to contribute to strengthening the capacity of the Western Balkan countries for applying common approaches and actions in responding to the challenges posed by the migration of unaccompanied minors, in line with EU priorities and actions in the area.
 


Responsabilities

 

The Local Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
  - Undertake a review of the country’s legislation, procedures and standards with respect to the protection of unaccompanied minors, using
    the methodology and tools developed by the Lead Researcher;
  - Undertake a review of the institutional capacities with respect to the protection of unaccompanied
    minors, using the methodology and tools developed by the Lead Researcher;
  - Conduct interviews and meetings with all relevant stakeholders;
  - Carry out customized field survey as per the survey tools developed by the Lead Researcher;
  - Draft the National Gap Analysis

 

Requirements

 

  - Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Law or other relevant fields;
  - A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the social sciences and/or legal field;
  - Previous experiences in undertaking researches;
  - Familiarity with issues related to the UAMs legislation and standards of care and protection;
  - Strong analytical writing and communication skills;
  - Fluency in English.
