Responsabilites
Under the supervision of the Chief of Human Rights and Security Section, the Human Rights Adviser, Human Rights and Security:
- Monitors the regional and municipal police stations and provides advice on measures towards ensuring compliance with applicable
international and European human rights standards;
- Identifies and reports on specific human right cases, trends and issues;
- Raises awareness of the police within the regional police headquarters and relevant municipal police stations for the respect of human
rights and sustainable human rights capacity and compliance;
- Identifies human rights related capacity building needs and advises the regional and municipal police stations on actions, strategies
and policies that address those needs.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the internal functioning of law enforcement agencies (police)
- Knowledge of the human rights aspects of police work (policy and procedure)
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and judgement to local conditions and communities
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and within limited time frames
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds,
different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity
- Professional fluency in the English language
