Description
In the spirit of urban renewal through the notion of placemaking, Creative and Active supported by Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development and in partnership with Municipality of Struga, launches the “City that (never) sleeps” Urban Residency (UrRe). UrRe is a three week long urban action workshop that will take place from 10 – 30 April 2015 in Struga, Macedonia.
Selected participants will design and propose long term policy projects to transform overlooked public space into a more vibrant, responsive and livable place. The aim of team of Creative and Active has worked closely with local institutions and groups to devise a project challenge focused in three pillars (strategic art policy platform, city square rearranging and developing bicycle lanes), details of which will be disclosed on the first day of the workshop. In the course of three weeks, participants will be presented with a context-specific challenge, a fixed schedule and budget to present the community with a solution.
Eligibility
The conference is open to international students enrolled in a master program in Architecture, Design, Urban Planning or other creative field, international artists in a visual medium with a particular interest in landscape/environment (at least 3 years completed formal arts education)
Costs
The organisers will cover room and board, a shared work space, work materials, international and domestic travels costs, field trip to Skopje, exhibition promotion, a published book.
