Responsibilities

   - Monitors and reports regularly on the security situation in the host State, including the overall situation in the former crisis area, cases of
     security incidents, and overall interethnic relations;
   - Maintains constructive contact with local authorities, liaises with other international organizations operating in the region, and interacts
     with local leaders and interlocutors such as Mayors, local institutions, Heads of villages, religious leaders etc;
   - When necessary and appropriate, serves as an intermediary/mediator between conflicting parties;
   - Reports vital security, development, political and related information from the field for dissemination to appropriate unit(s)/organization(s)
     /authority(s); upon request of the Monitoring Unit management, contributes to analytic works of the Unit in his/her  identified fields of
     expertise;
   - Supports the efforts of the various departments on the Field (Political Unit, Decentralization Unit, Community Policing Unit, etc.);


Requirements


   - Significant prior experience in relevant fields such as political and security issues, law enforcement, education and minority issues
   - Ability to establish contact and constructive relations with local population and officials
   - Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds,
     different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity
   - Cultural sensitivity and judgement
   - Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and within limited time frames
   - Professional fluency in English, both oral and written
   - Ability to operate computer windows applications, including word processing and e-mail
