Background
The City of Skopje has applied for a loan of EUR 5.6m from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the "Bank") and intends using the proceeds for an urban transport project.
The City of Skopje will be the implementing agency. The proposed project has a total estimated cost of up to EUR 8.03 million equivalent. The operation will enable the City to carry out the key investments needed to improve the urban transport road safety in the City of Skopje by means of best-practice investments in the areas of:
- traffic management and
- road rehabilitation, both key components of its Urban Transport Development Plan.
The Project will require the procurement of the following goods, works and services:
- Supply and Installation
- Traffic Management System
- Works (Rehabilitation of Prvomajska Street)
- Consultancy
- Implementation & Engineering Supervision (donor funded)
- Twinning for Roads and Traffic Management Institutional Support (donor funded)
Tendering for works contract(s) is expected to begin in the 2nd quarter of 2011.
Eligibility
Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, of for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the Purchaser's country.
