OSCE MISSION TO SKOPJE/ SENIOR MONITORING OFFICER (VACANCY NUMBER: VNSKPS00430)

Responsibilities

   - Assists the Chief of Monitoring in co-ordinating and providing relevant guidelines to the Monitoring Unit (MU) teams deployed in his/her
     AoR  and ensures harmonised functioning of the team as a whole; assists in developing policy in the areas of interest of the Monitoring
     Unit;
   - Ensures that other Monitoring teams deployed in his/her AoR  are operating in line with standard operating procedures and instructions;
   - Monitors specific issues that develop in the relevant AoR, and is involved in core activities of the Monitoring Unit;
   - Provides specialised expertise and analysis in relevant areas of work;
   - Co-ordinates with other departments of the Mission on relevant thematic activity issues and conducts briefing for other programmes;
   - Provides internal training and mentoring to new members in the Monitoring Unit;


Requirements

   - Experience as a team leader in an international working environment
   - Certified training in communications, personal protection including mine awareness, map reading and first aid required
   - Knowledge of the political-military history and recent developments in the mission area
   - Knowledge of potential religious, security, education, civil society and minority issues in the region
   - Ability to quickly establish contact and constructive relations with local population and officials
   - Good analytical and organizational skills
   - Professional fluency in the English language
   - Cultural sensitivity and judgement
