Eeconomic and social rights, Afkar program, funded by the European Union and managed by the Office of the Minister of State for administrative reform was launched in 2004. Afkar I (1 Million €) and Afkar II (3 Million €) supported the implementation of local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) projects in Human Rights field. At this effect, the Program provided necessary advice and follow up for the 40 mentioned projects and implemented supportive workshop trainings about management and communication skills, networking and projects’ conceptualization and preparation in addition to thematic exchanging debates. Building on the achievements of AFKAR I and AFKAR II, AFKAR III, aims at reinforcing the capacity of the Lebanese CSOs, to enhance their active commitment to the concept, values and practices of Good Governance and to enable them to engage more effectively with the Lebanese government in the development process. The program embraces 2 calls for proposals supporting innovative joint initiatives among civil society organisations in order to promote socio-economic development and reform.
Size of grants
Any grant requested under this Call for Proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- minimum amount: EUR 300.000
- maximum amount: EUR 500.000.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a grant, the applicant must:
- be a legal person
- be non-profit-making
- be specific types of organisations such as: Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO), local authorities, international (inter-governmental)
organisation as defined by Article 43 of the Rules of application of the EU Financial Regulation and other non-state actors
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or in a country that it is beneficiary of the ENPI Regulation
