Description
The overall objective of this project is to improve radioactive waste management in the Republic of Armenia. The project is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the national regulatory body, the Armenian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ANRA) and its Technical Support Organisation, the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Centre (NRSC) in this area, as well as at enhancing the regulatory framework related to radioactive waste management.
EU knowledge and experience will be transferred to the ANRA and its TSO, with a view to bringing their capabilities in accordance with best EU standards and practice.
The project objectives are the following:
- To strengthen ANRA and NRSC capabilities in review, assessment and associated decision making of safety of long term management of
historical solid radioactive waste management generated at the NPP;
- To improve the radioactive waste management safety in the Republic of Armenia and contribute to strengthening of the national
infrastructure of radioactive waste management in Armenia;
- To enhance the regulatory basis on disposal of radioactive waste.
Eligibility
Participation is open to all natural persons who are nationals of and legal persons [participating either individually or in a grouping (consortium) of tenderers] which are effectively established in a Member State of the European Union or in a eligible country or territory as defined under the Regulation (EU) N°236/2014 establishing common rules and procedures for the implementation of the Union's instruments for external action (CIR) for the applicable Instrument under which the contract is financed. Participation is also open to international organisations.
