Description

The World Health Summit is the annual conference of the M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centers, Universities and National Academies. Through the Inter Academy Medical Panel (IAMP), it is organized in collaboration with national academies of science in more than 67 countries. The vision behind the World Health Summit is to improve health all over the planet, catalyzing that process through collaboration and open dialogue, and steering tomorrow’s agenda to improve research, education, healthcare and policy outcomes.

The World Health Summit brings together more than 1,200 decision-makers and representatives from the entire spectrum of health-related fields and industries. Arriving from more than 80 countries, its participants address the most pressing issues that medicine and healthcare systems will face in the upcoming decade and beyond. To support the recognition of emerging young medical science journalists and their contribution towards public understanding of science, they will for the fourth time present the “Next Generation of Science Journalists” Award.

Five outstanding young candidates will be invited to participate in the World Health Summit 2015, held from 11-13 October 2015 at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.


Eligibility

   - Top-level researchers and members of the scientific community;
   - High-profile political decision-makers;
   - Executives and representatives from healthcare systems;
   - Leaders in health-related industries and the technology sector;
   - Representatives from foundations and civil society;
   - Students and young professionals from a wide range of health-related fields.


Prizes

Prize money of EUR 500 to recompense travel expenses, and a certificate, presented by the WHS Presidents Prof. Dr. Detlev Ganten (Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin) and Prof. Dr. Shunichi Fukuhara (Kyoto University). Winners will be responsible for organizing their own transport and accommodation.
