Background
Severe flooding hit much of the country in January and February 2015, causing widespread damage and economic losses. Heavy rainfall caused rivers to overflow in many locations, and 44 out of 80 municipalities, with roughly 170,000 people were affected in all. The floods caused major damages to roads and bridges, interrupting transport, and drainage and irrigation systems were also damaged. Much agricultural land was also flooded, causing extensive losses to farming families.
Responsibilities
- Implementation of the Communication and Visibility Plan of the EU Floods Recovery Programme in accordance with the “Joint Visibility
Guidelines for EC-UN Actions in the Field”
- Provides support to the CO web-based information and knowledge management system in relations to the EU Floods Recovery Programme
Requirements
- University degree in in media relations, journalism, social sciences. Master degree shall be considered an asset
- At least 3 years (5 years with BA) of relevant experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications or
advocacy. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, good knowledge and experience with managing websites,
experience in conceptualizing and managing the production of promoting materials.
- Language proficiency in both written and oral English and Macedonian. Knowledge of other local languages shall be considered an asset.
