Background:
The Republic of Serbia is a signatory to a number of important international treaties, which guarantee the equality of men and women and prohibit gender-based discrimination, most notably the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the Istanbul Convention.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Gender Specialist, the intern will be have the opportunity to get engaged on the following assignments:
- Supporting research on different topics in the field of gender equality that would support the work of UN Women and its partners;
- Collecting data and other statistics on relevance for UN Women programming and drafting briefs, overviews and reports in specific areas;
- Supporting the organization of activities implemented by UN Women or its partners, such as workshops, trainings, coordination meetings,
media events, etc
- Monitoring developments in the field of gender equality in Serbia and preparing regular updates for use by UN Women and its partners;
Required Skills and Experience
- The intern must have studies in or other similar subject at the university level.
- Native Serbian speaker
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required
- Full computer literacy with MS Word, Excel, Power Point
- Commitment, interest, and knowledge in the area of women’s right and gender equality
