Background
The project major objective is sustainable land and forest management in the North-eastern Armenia to secure continued flow of multiple ecosystem services (such as water provision, land slide control and carbon storage /sequestration) and to ensure conservation of critical wildlife habitats through the removal of the aforementioned barriers will ensure sustainable land and forest management to secure continued flow of multiple ecosystem services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct analyses of “Multi-functional zoning” approach methodological aspects and its applications in different forest ecosystem studies
worldwide;
- Conduct review analyses of “Multi-functional zoning” approach application in Armenia tested by by GIZ-Armenia within “Sustainable
Management of Biodiversity in South - Caucasus” project in Sevqar forest enterprise and other areas;
- Analyze the extent of “Multi-functional zoning” approach application for delineation of High conservation value forests (HCVF), protected
areas or other land categories (e.g. “degraded forests”) in North-eastern mountain forest ecosystems of Armenia;
- Outline the recommendations on the relevant extent of application of “Multi-functional zoning” approach application for delineation of HCVF,
protected areas or other land categories.
Required Skills and Experience
- Advanced University Degree (MSc, MA or PhD) in natural or environmental sciences, geography, and biology.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience at national or international level, including research in the subject area;
- 5 years of working experience in functional zoning or related studies;
- Experience of work in mountain regions and/or South Caucasus countries.
- English/Armenian. Knowledge of Russian is an asset.
- Good computer literacy, knowledge of MS office software and web based applications.
