Background
UNDP and the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning (MoEPP) are implementing the project “Macedonia's Second Biennial Update Report (SBUR)”. The main aim of the project is to assist the country in mainstreaming and integration of climate change consideration into national and sectorial development policies by providing continuity to the institutional and technical capacity strengthening process, partly initiated and sustained by the National Communications and the First Biennial Update Report on Climate Change.
Responsibilities
- Develop GHG inventory for the Forestry sector for 2012-2014 using IPCC 2006 software;
- Assist in identification of innovative tools for collection of data from the AFOLU sector;
- In close cooperation with relevant institutions and other contracted consultants within the project, implement satellite imaging as alternative
source for introducing higher Tier in the Forestry sector, to the extent possible;
- Revise the previous time-series of the GHG inventory if needed, in order to provide consistency of data;
- Improve the quality of the GHG Inventory by introduction of higher Tier to the extent possible, following the recommendations of the technical
review of the FBUR and the latest UNFCCC guidance;
Required Skills and Experience
- Master degree in the thematic areas relevant to the assignment (e.g. forestry, environmental engineering etc.); PhD degree is a strong asset;
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the fields relevant for the assignment (climate change mitigation, GHG inventory, climate
change or forestry policy documents);
- Record of participation in at least 3 relevant projects (forestry policy documents, climate change mitigation, GHG inventory, climate change
policy documents, etc.). Relevant International experience shall be considered as asset.
