Background
The CTA is expected to provide critical advisory support at certain decision-making points (e.g. selection of the most feasible mitigation options, prioritization of measures, etc.). Upon request, s/he will be contributing to documenting some of the key achievements especially those that require specific expertise, as well as to drafting various products (e.g. lessons learnt reports, articles, papers and presentations) and capacity development support to the key stakeholders. Moreover, s/he shall also support the project climate change office and UNDP in identifying potential new project ideas and sources of funding, based on the findings and recommendations of the FBUR.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with the UNFCCC guidelines for BUR preparation;
- Ensure consistency with INDC and other national strategic documents;
- Ensure reflection of the SBUR work into national plan SDGs, especially SDG13 (climate change);
- Ensure compliance with EU Greenhouse gas Monitoring Mechanism Regulation (MMR);
Required Skills and Experience
- Master degree in the thematic areas relevant to the assignment (e.g. environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical
engineering); PhD degree is a strong asset;
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in the fields relevant for the assignment (climate change mitigation, GHG inventory, climate
change policy documents);
- Record of participation in at least 3 relevant projects (climate change mitigation, GHG inventory, climate change policy documents, technology
needs assessments etc.
- Fluency in English and Macedonian, with excellent writing skills
