Background
Under the direct supervision of the Sector Manager for Competitiveness, the Consultant for Geographical Indications will provide technical support for development and submission of Elaborates for Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) in line with the requirements as stated in the Law on Indications of Geographical Origin and Rulebook on the content of the request for registration of geographical origin.
Responsibilities
- Collecting and assessing all available data on the traditional products seeking PDO and PGI certification from the Programme, the applicants,
and other relevant stakeholders.
- Developing and submitting an inception report outlining the work plan and method for development of the Elaborates for PDO and PGI
protection with an outline of possible obstacles in activity implementation and mitigation plan which has to be approved by the European
PROGRES Programme
- Carrying out activities agreed upon with the inception plan, including but not limited to organization of meetings with producers and other
relevant stakeholders
- Developing and submitting Elaborates for products for PDO and PGI protection as stipulated by the Law on Indications of Geographical
Origin (1) and Rulebook on the
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor degree preferably in agriculture, management, law, economics or any related field is required
- Master or PhD Degree in related discipline will be considered as an asset
- Minimum two years of relevant work experience in provision of services related to geographic indication and development of Elaborate on
geographical indications and documents needed for PDO and/or PGI certification is required
- Experience in at least one of the following fields: potato, honey or meat production is an asset
- Fluency in Serbian is required and basic knowledge of English is required
