11 November 2016, Friday, 18:00 – 21:00h

Background

The Citizens’ Network for Peace, Reconciliation & Human Security (cn4hs) is pleased to invite you to a Friday-night round-table discussion on human security to be organised on 11 November 2016 (Friday) between 18:00 – 19:30, at the Stone Bridge Hotel in Skopje. A couple of short presentations of the Network’s goals and activities will be followed by an interactive debate, and, then a cocktail to share some drinks, snacks and further ideas about civic networking and human security in an informal setting.
Our intention is to meet with and bring together individuals from civil society, the academic/research community, media and representatives from public agencies to exchange thoughts about human security issues in the context of Macedonia, as well as the wider region, in light of associated policies of European integration. The follow-up cocktail for the participants will be from 19:30 till 21:00.
The round-table will be opened by an introduction on the composition, aims and experience of the cn4hs network initiative, together with a brief presentation on human security to provide the context and framework to guide the following discussion among the participants. In the form of an open debate, participants will be invited to contribute their inputs as well as questions, as discussants.

cn4hs was launched back in 2013 by six implementing partners and has gradually evolved into a network of currently a dozen member organisations and associated entities, involving also fellow researchers, scholars, individual experts, activists, journalists, professionals, policy-makers and implementers from across the region and the EU, as well as expert contributions advisory functions by the London School of Economics along the way. The six founding partners function as a hub for coordination, outreach and advocacy, in line with the strategy to expand and diversify the outreach of the network. The coordination hub is keen to engage and network with organisations and individuals from civic and academic community, media and public entities involved with relevant fields of interest and activities in Macedonia. It is with this interest that we are organising the round-table discussion and cocktail on 11 November 2016, at Stone Bridge Hotel in Skopje.

We hope to see you join us in this social event, and eventually, in our network. You may kindly review further below background information on the network, a brief note on human security debate, and on how we work to re-Claim! and humanize security.
