The United Nations seeks to advance the country’s achievements in enhancing inter-ethnic relations by promoting inter-ethnic dialogue and collaboration. It does this by supporting the efforts of central Government, relevant local bodies and civil society.
The main objectives of the UN Programme are:
• Governance—Improve national systems and capacities for inter-ethnic cohesion;
• Education—Reinforce the education system’s ability to promote diversity;
• Society—Promote tolerance and respect between different groups.
Objectives of the Call for Proposals:
The objective of this call for proposals is to design, develop and produce social content programmes (such as mini-series, docutainment programmes, reality TV episodes) that promote diversity, tolerance and social cohesion.
Size of grants:
Grants awarded under this call (maximum three) may not exceed the amount of $40,000 (forty- thousand) USD, unless UNDP determines the possibility for an amendment.
Eligibility:
In order to be eligible for a grant, applicants must be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with their partners. Applicants may not act as an intermediary.
The following examples of organization’s profiles are sought:
- Local organizations or local coalitions with legal entity status in accordance with the Law on Associations of Citizens and Foundations
and which, by their statutes and activities, work in at least one of these areas: social development, interethnic dialogue, arts and culture,
media development, research and evaluation of media products, or production of TV, radio and movie products;
- The applicant (or in the case of a collation the lead partner) must have been formed a minimum 3 years from the day when this Call for
proposals is published;
- The applicant must have experience in the management and implementation of at least 3 projects in any of the areas mentioned above;
- The applicant must prove that its team meets the technical expertise and administrative capacity to implement the project;
- The applicant must prove established partnerships with individuals, institutions, corporations or other entities that might be required to
support the realization of the project;
- The applicant can provide confirmation on the ability to support UNDP in further collaboration with media houses to broadcast the
products (i.e. Existing partnerships and collaboration, networks, etc.), but this is not essential;
- The applicant must demonstrate that the product meets the objective of this call, i.e. that it serves a positive message on civic identity,
diversity and inter-ethnicity;
- The Team of experts must include input from at least one civil society leader;
- The applicant must have implemented projects within the last 3 years whose value was at least 30,000 EUR per year.
Duration:
The valid duration of a project is 4 months from the time when an agreement is signed. All planned activities must be finished within this three-month time frame, unless UNDP recognizes and formally accepts in advance that unforeseen circumstances have impacted the activities’ duration.
The date planned for the start of actions, following the signing of the contract by the parties, is February 22th 2012 (this date is indicative).
