Duties and responsibilities:
1. Conduct preliminary interviews of individual cases in coordination and under guidance of Associate Protection/Legal Officer
2. Inform and act on the reports received form refugees, from local authorities and civil society organizations
3. Follow up protection issues with authorities concerned, Including court cases concerning refugees
4. Maintain working relationships with officials of the Section for Asylum, Integration Centre, Reception Centre for asylum-seekers, as well
as with international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other officials concerned with protection issues.
5. Contribute to the implementation of the durable solution strategy in the country by assisting in assessing welfare and support required by
the refugee caseload in the process of self reliance
6. Compile monthly statistic of asylum seekers and refugees
7. Act as interpreter and translator when needed and produce protection reports and analytic documentation as required
8. Perform other duties, as required
Qualification and experience
Education and skill:
- Secondary education and/or Post-secondary certificate/training in International Law
- Previous work experience: minimum 6 years of previous job experience relevant to the function
- Languages: Excellent knowledge of English language and Macedonian language
- Working knowledge of Albanian language is an assets.
Desirable qualifications and competencies:
- Computer skills (Ms office and People soft applications)
- Good knowledge of UNHCR's protection mandate as well as interviewing techniques and management of individual cases.
