The PLANTFOODSEC project (Network of Excellence) foresees the organization of 5 summer schools within 5 years with the objectives to build up a strong culture of awareness and compliance with plant and food biosecurity for those with responsibilities and interest in all sectors of crop agriculture, including extension specialists, students, crop consultants, regulators, and farm advisors at various levels and to harmonize expertise across the Network. The 2012 Summer School will be organised by Agroinnova, the Center of Competence for Innovation in agro-environmental and agro-food sector, Project coordinator.

The event takes place July 16-20, 2012 in Torino, Italy.

The aims of the summerschools are:

    • building a strong culture of awareness and compliance with plant and food biosecurity for those with responsibilities and interest in all
       sectors of crop agriculture, including extension specialists, students, crop consultants, regulators and farm advisors at various levels;
    • harmonising expertise across the network.

Date and venue

    - July 16–20, 2012, Museum of Natural History, Via Giolitti 36, Torino (Italy)

Open to:
 
    - MSc students, PhD students and post-doctoral researchers (25 to 40 participants)

Participation fee

    - EUR 250; EUR 150 for students of the University of Torino; free of charge for PLANTFOODSEC partners. The fee includes admission fee
      and teaching materials. Not included travel expenses and accommodation.

Accommodation

    - University residence (about 40 EUR/night)

Course accreditation

The summer school has been accredited by the Doctoral School of Sciences and Innovation Technologies of the University of Torino (three University course credits)
