Description:
The University of Oxford, Department of Politics and International Relations, proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Comparative Political Economy. The post will be held in conjunction with a Tutorial Fellowship at Magdalen College.
The position is full-time and permanent (subject to successful completion of the probationary period). The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and contribute to administration and examining. The award of a professorial title (subject to the approval of the Vice-Chancellor) and fast-track tenure process are possible in the case of a more senior appointee.
The successful candidate will be appointed on the Oxford scale for university lecturers with tutorial fellowships (currently £42,883 to £57,581 per annum), and an additional College housing allowance of £10,404 per annum is available if the successful candidate chooses not to reside in College.
Criteria for selection:
Candidates will be considered for the post on the basis of the selection criteria outlined below. The successful candidate must have:
- a completed doctorate in a relevant subject area;
- excellence, or the potential for excellence, in undergraduate teaching, and the ability and experience to teach graduate students of high
calibre, to carry out student assessment, and to contribute to the design and delivery of degree programmes;
- the ability to supervise MSc, MPhil, and doctoral students;
- the capacity to secure external research funding;
- a proven ability to contribute to the Department’s Research Excellence Framework entry;
- an ability and readiness to contribute effectively to the administrative work of the Department and the College.
Some preference may be given to a candidate who meeting the essential criteria above is also able to contribute to the teaching of research methods.
