Background:
The Access to Justice – Facing the Past and Building the Confidence for the Future Project is a three years project, started in 2009 and comprised of 2 Components: Transitional Justice (TJ) and Access to Justice. The goal of the Project is to increase the accessibility and services for standard court users and systematically address remaining access to justice challenges for victims of the 1992-95 conflict in the country.
Under Component 1 - the Project is supporting BiH Government in process of developing Transitional Justice Strategy and specific TJ mechanisms in the area of truth seeking and memorials, as well communicating identified strategic issues to the stakeholders and building capacities of civil society organisations to provide better targeted interventions in this area.
Under Component 2 - the Project is focusing on supporting activities aimed at increasing access to justice to poor and marginalised groups of society trough development and building of harmonised Free Legal Aid System in BiH and enhancing minimum equal standards for all citizens in BiH.
The two components of the project are mutually reinforcing as they work in parallel towards restoring public confidence in BiH institutions.
The Project is seeking additional support to contribute to the full implementation of activities, particularly focused on Component 1 activities, and achievement of the following specific Component 1 related objectives:

and enhance dialogue on TJ issues.
