UNDP / PROJECT MANAGER (NATIONAL POSITION)

Background:


The project’s three specific outputs are:

  1) An increased gender-sensitive access and literacy of remittance-recipients and senders to financial services in order to promote the
      accumulation of local savings and investment;
  2) Models and mechanisms that facilitate migrants’ investment and savings in Kosovo are identified and piloted; and
  3) Evidence-based policies created by Kosovo authorities who have an improved capacity to produce and manage information related to
      migration and development, including gender disaggregated data.

The project reports on a quarterly basis to the project board, consisting members of UNDP, IOM, the government of Finland (donor) and Ministry of Diaspora (beneficiary). The project has two team members, Project Manager and Project Associate.   

Required Skills and Experience:

Education:

  - Master Degree or equivalent in social science discipline (i.e. international development, economics, finance, business administration)
    or other relevant fields

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant and progressively responsible post-master working experience in project/programme management or
    managing staff and operational systems, and/or establishing relationships among international organization and local
    institutions/communities
  • Previous experience in private sector, government or development assistance or related  work for an international agency or
    donor organization or NGO
  • Proven track record in understanding of relevant development issues, especially of remittances, migration and development
  • A solid understanding of business solutions to poverty reduction and development  
  • A solid understanding of economic development context and the business sector in Kosovo
  • Ability to understand and provide critical analysis of business models and plans, as well as their potential development impacts
  • Ability to coordinate complex programs with diverse range of partners
  • Experience in relationship management and facilitation skills
  • International experience will be considered as an asset
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Knowledge and experience of gender equality and women’s empowerment will be considered to be an asset
  • Knowledge of Results-Based Management, including support to design, planning and implementation of projects, managing data
    and reporting will be considered as an asset
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and
    database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems

Language Requirements:

- Fluency in both oral and written English, Albanian and/or Serbian
 
Starting Date: 01 May 2012
Duration of Initial Contract: 12 months
Expected Duration of Assignment : 24 months with possibility of extension
