Job assignments
Field work at a forest research site in central Sweden using chamber measurements for BVOC and photosynthesis, analyses of BVOC samples in the laboratory, contribution to profile and flux measurements of BVOC, lab experiments in controlled chambers in Germany, data analyses, publication of project results.
Eligibility/Entry Requirements
Highest priority will be given to applicants with a M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in a quantitative environmental sciences discipline, for instance meteorology, physical geography, environmental physics, environmental engineering, biogeochemistry. Applications from candidates who are close to completion of their undergraduate studies will also be considered.
The candidate should have a strong theoretical background in environmental physics, biogeochemistry or ecology. In the evaluation, we will also especially consider knowledge and experience from field measurements (e.g., trace gas exchange), the applicant?s ability to work independently, to take responsibility, and to address scientific questions. The applicant should be able to communicate research results and willing to interact within an international research environment.
The applicant must be able to work on towers and platforms within and above the canopy layer.
We welcome candidates with enthusiasm for collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, as well as an aptness to pose and solve problems individually. The work involves extensive international collaboration and the candidate must be willing to travel and hold a valid driving license (B or higher). Excellent written and spoken English is a requirement.
Basis of Assessment
Regulations for Ph.D. positions will be found in SFS regulations 1998:80 (in Swedish). This position can only be appointed to a person eligible for postgraduate studies. Particular emphasis for admission shall be placed upon the applicant's ability to successfully complete postgraduate studies, as indicated by academic qualifications and merits. Apart from postgraduate education, the successful applicant may be assigned other duties within undergraduate teaching, research, and administrative work according to special regulations.
