UNDP/NATIONAL CONSULTANT ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Objectives:

The objective of the assignment is to support the climate risk assessment process that will be carried out in the selected statistical region by ensuring that the climate risks, especially those related to the vulnerabilities of the water sector are properly identified mapped and appropriate measures are developed. The outputs of the assignment should serve as inputs for various developments plans on local level, as well as for planning of concrete demonstration activities that will address climate and disaster risks at local level in the selected statistical region.

Duration:

The assignment is estimate to be completed in 40 (forty) working days in period of 6 (six) months starting in April 2012 and ending in September 2012. The Assignment shall follow the logical sequences of implementation of activities.

Competencies

   • At least 5 years working experience in areas relevant for the assignment (climate change, hydrology, climate risk management, disaster
      risk reduction);
   • Previous experience in projects from climate change/climate risk management/disaster risk reduction areas/water sector (hydrology);
   • Understanding of the local development context of the country;
   • Knowledge of methodological research and tools;
   • Experience in working with different stakeholders (government bodies, municipalities etc.) including civil society organizations;
   • Good presentation and communication skills, sense of initiative;
   • Excellent analytical and writing skills;
   • Planning and organizational skills;
   • Experience in working with and reporting to international/donor organization will be an advantage;
   • Full working knowledge of English.

Required Skills and Experience

   - University degree in the thematic areas relevant to the assignment (environmental engineering, civil construction – hydrology, natural
     sciences). Advanced university is an asset;
