AZE/ YOUNG AZERBAIJANIS CALL FOR FOREST PROTECTION ON EU-FUNDED RUSSIA TRIP

Young foresters have called for a unified approach to preserving Azerbaijan’s forests during an EU-
funded trip to the International Junior Forest Contest in Peterhof, Russia on 20 September. Young
people from Azerbaijan took part in heated discussions, art evenings and sightseeing tours, with
the trip organized as part of the Forest Law Enforcement and Governance (FLEG II) Programme.
Participant Anna Orlova from the Ismayilli district of Azerbaijan addressed peers at the event and
urged protection against global warming. “No matter if you walk, work or study the local forests,
impacts of various kinds, including anthropogenic and effects of climate change are there,” she
said.” There is a real passion in our village, among the youth and even older generation to see
