GEO/ MODERN BUSES FOR A MODERN CITY - EU FUNDING HELPS TBILISI GET GREENER

EU Ambassador to Georgia Janos Herman, together with Tbilisi Mayor, government representatives
and main donors congratulated the citizens of Tbilisi on the first batch of buses. The remaining 143
buses will be delivered in upcoming months. The purchase of the buses was possible with a grant of
over GEL 18 million (EUR 7million) from the so-called E5P Fund, where European Union is the
biggest contributor. Ambassador Herman's full speech is below:
"I am happy to be here on behalf of the European Union to mark the arrival of the first batch of 143
new, environmentally friendly buses for Tbilisi. We congratulate our close and good partners, the
Municipality of Tbilisi, the EBRD, who have been the main engine, our partners in the E5P Fund
and everybody, who have helped this day to come. We hope that the citizens of Tbilisi will accept and
like these new blue buses...(link)
