Today, Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, will take part
in the 15th Overseas Countries and Territories – European Union Forum in Aruba. Commissioner
Mimica reaffirmed EU's strong commitment to work together with all partners to build resilience and sustainable responses to common challenges, such as climate change, disaster risk reduction
and sustainable energy transition. "Our Overseas Countries and Territories have great potential to act as regional hubs of excellence in addressing issues of common concern. We will continue to work closely together in addressing the challenge of climate change and increasing the use of renewable energies", reaffirmed Commissioner Mimica on this occasion. During the Forum, the Commissioner will sign Programming Documents under the 11th European Development Fund together with OCT partners, such as New Caledonia (€29.8 million) to support employment and professional inclusion in the region. Projects in Saba, worth €3.55 million, will invest in renewable energy and €2.45 million will be earmarked for energy projects in Sint Eustatius. (link)
