The European Union-funded project to improve Turkey’s Judicial Notification System was launched on 21 November in Ankara. It supports the Ministry of Justice in its efforts to enhance the efficiency of judicial proceedings in line with European standards. Ensuring the fast, fair, efficient, and well- functioning of the trial process is a key goal of the justice system. The Judicial Notification System is an integral part of the Turkish Judiciary and directly impacts on the efficiency of the whole structure. With an EU contribution of EUR 1.5 million, the project will assist the Ministry of Justice in improving the Judicial Notification System in line with EU standards, and thereby contribute to decreasing the duration of judicial cases in Turkey. It thus also enhances access to a fair trial and increases the trust in the judiciary. The project aims to increase the effectiveness of the court system by developing standardised rules, implementing capacity-building activities for all stakeholders involved, and incorporating up-to- date technological systems for a better functioning of the electronic notification system.
