www.balkans.com- With the ratification of the SAA in Lithuania this June, the conditions are created for the
next stage of the relations between Serbia and the EU. On September 1 Serbia will officially become an
associate member, thus making another step towards the strategic goal – joining the Union. The status of
an associate member will enable the better economic development, primarily through boost to the
marketing economy and the rule of law, which are the prerequisites for the inflow of foreign investments.
With regards to funds, currently Serbia is getting around 200 million euros annually, but the next
seven-year turn envisages more assets. The talks are under way on the division of the budget for the IPA
funds until 2020, which envisages the total amount of 11.9 billion euros, i.e. the increase of 500 million.
