Experts from the EU-funded energy programme INOGATE are visiting Azerbaijan on 29-30 April
to provide assistance to the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources of the
Azerbaijan Republic (SAARES), one of the key stakeholders in the area of renewables in
Azerbaijan. This work is aimed at improving secondary legislation on renewable energy
licensing, thus creating a more conducive environment for the development of renewable energy
in the country.
The team of ITS experts is working closely with the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable
Energy Sources (RES) “to analyse the existing legislative framework on licensing in the RES
sub-sector and the energy sector as a whole, to provide specific examples of RES licensing
practices in EU countries and to elaborate proposals on how to improve primary and secondary
RES legislation in Azerbaijan with respect to licensing / issuing special permits.”
Overall, this assistance will help to enhance the capacity of Azerbaijani institutions involved in the formulation and implementation of RES, at the same time enabling the creation of better conditions for the development of renewable energy projects in the country...(EU Neighborhood Info)
