MLD/ INOGATE HELPS INCREASE AWARENESS ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN MOLDOVA

More than 50 key energy players from Moldova came together yesterday for an information
event on the EU INOGATE Programme: Energy Cooperation Achievements in Moldova so far
and the way forward in 2014, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Economy of
Moldova and the INOGATE Technical Secretariat.
The aim of the event was to review INOGATE’s technical assistance support over the last
couple of years and agree on how best to target upcoming assistance in 2014 for the benefit
of Moldavian institutions.
The main topics of discussions focused on the cooperation between INOGATE and Moldova
including:
- common activities in electricity & gas co-operation;
- EU experience in awareness rising on Sustainable Energy (SE);
- experience of establishing SE Information Centres based on the European examples and with the view of establishing one in Moldova with
INOGATE’s assistance;
- clarifications of the implementation of the EU Directive’s 3rd Energy Package and its implications for Moldova.
The Deputy Director of the Energy Efficiency Agency of Moldova Calin Negura noted INOGATE’s contribution to the development of energy efficiency in Moldova: “INOGATE has been helping our Agency significantly to build its capacity and achieve progress in the area of Energy Efficiency. The INOGATE’s assistance in enhancing energy efficiency techniques, developing guidelines and best practices as well as creating a viable information centre for greater awareness on sustainable energy will help us to advance sustainable energy in our country.”
The sustainable energy information centre will be the focal point for informing and raising awareness of a broad range of groups including policy makers, investors and general public.
