GEO/ WORKING WITH GEORGIA TOWARDS A PROPER FRAMEWORK FOR E-GOVERNANCE

An EU Twinning project has been completed in Georgia, helping the authorities to establish a
proper framework for e-governance. The project was implemented jointly by the Georgian
Data Exchange Agency, the Austrian Federal Chancellery and the University of Koblenz
Landau (Germany).
The main aim of project was to assist the Georgian authorities in setting up a consistent
legislative and regulatory framework for e-governance, allowing all government services to
be made available to citizens in a convenient, efficient and transparent manner.
During the project, Georgian, Austrian and German experts worked to improve the
framework for linking different public databases, therefore reinforcing their effectiveness
while limiting the risk of abuse of stored information.
"Thanks to international experts' cooperation, the Data Exchange Agency has improved its capacities to carry out its functions, including in the field of cybersecurity," a press release said.
The two-year project has started in December 2012 with a budget of €1.2 million. Since 2011, the EU has launched two other projects in the field of e-governance in Georgia. The EU total investment in this field amounts to more than € 4.2 million...(link)
