UKR/ UKRAINIAN CITY WORKING TO ADAPT TO THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE

The adaptation plan has been developed, based on a comprehensive analysis of the current
situation in the city and the best practices of European countries to adapt the urban
environment to climate change. Three main problems were identified: local flooding areas,
heat stress and vulnerability of greenery. In order to solve each of these problems, a set of
adaptation measures has been highlighted to minimize the negative impact of climate change
on people's lives.
The next stage is to seek out financial possibilities to support the practical implementation of the
recommended adaptation measures. The first step in this direction will be pilot projects to expand
local flooding areas, which start in September 2016, after the selection of the competition
