Background:
The incumbent is responsible for carrying out the U.S. Department of State’s Democracy Commission Small Grants Program and assisting with the management of Public Diplomacy grants. This includes overseeing the administration of the grant process, working with potential grantees to ensure understanding or responsibilities associated with being a U.S. grant recipient and assisting in the selection of appropriate grant recipients. Also serves as Embassy’s primary point of contact for five American Corners, managing budgets and ensuring smooth operation while coordinating programming with input from the IRC associate, Public Affairs Officer and Assistant Public Affairs Officer.
Qualifications Required:
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. University degree in social sciences/humanities is required.
2. Must have at least five years of progressively responsible experience with institutions of higher learning, cultural organizations, arts, media,
or related fields with extensive experience managing grant proposals and monitoring implementation of grants.
3. Level IV (Advanced Professional Proficiency) Speaking/Reading English is required. Level IV Speaking/Reading Macedonian is required.
4. Excellent written skills in English and Macedonian for official correspondence are required.
5. Ability to use MS Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, and Power Point) is required.
6. Extensive knowledge of granting and funding policies along with full awareness of non-governmental setting and trends in Macedonia
is required.
Additional selection criteria:
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent
Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the

5. Currently employed Not Ordinarily Resident (NOR) persons hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for
advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually
