Background

Through its programmes and projects, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) is providing technical assistance to national partners (governmental and non-governmental) in the implementation of existing international and national commitments to women’s rights and gender equality, facilitates networking and exchange of good practices and advocates for women’s rights and gender equality in all areas of life.
Ending Violence against Women and Girls is among the five key priority areas within the mandate of UN Women. Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. It can include physical, sexual, psychological and economic abuse, and it cuts across boundaries of age, race, culture, wealth and geography. It takes place in the home, on the streets, in schools, and in the workplace. It has many manifestations — from the most prevalent forms of domestic and sexual violence, sexual harassment and stalking to harmful practices.

Objective

The Proposal should focus on extending the following services:
   - Collect information, data and available mapping reports on existing services in response to domestic violence and violence against
     women, provided by CSOs
   - Monitor trends in reporting, service delivery and service related needs of survivors of domestic violence reported to CSOs
   - Present and discuss in a CSO forum an initial idea on establishing minimum standards for support services in response to domestic
violence by analyzing the International standards and their possible adaptation to country context and needs
   - Define a set of critical immediate services in support of survivors of domestic violence for which minimum standards should be established
   - Present draft minimum standards for the above defied critical set of services by relying on International standards and best practices
   - Organize national CSO conference on integrated approach in provision of support services in response to domestic violence
