Description
The Regional Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratization has become a one year interdisciplinary programme since 2013-2014 academic year. The programme was established with the financial support of the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) in 2010. The programme is one of 6 Regional Master’s Programmes in Human Rights and Democratization worldwide, established with the financial support of the European Commission.
This innovative new degree provides:
- A unique interdisciplinary master’s level education in human rights and democratization in the entire Post-Soviet area;
- European quality education in human rights and democratization;
- Career opportunities in international, governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as in the academic sphere;
- Qualified teaching staff, including academic experts and highly qualified specialists with professional experience in international
organizations such as the UN, Council of Europe and OSCE;
- A joint degree granted by four universities;
- Study visit to European institutions;
- Student mobility between the 4 partner universities;
- A multicultural learning environment, including excursions in host countries and cultural events.
This unique programme is offered by four leading universities in Eastern Partnership Region:Yerevan State University (coordinator), Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Belarusian State University, University of European Political and Economic Studies (USPEE) in Moldova and in cooperation with the European Interuniversity Center (Venice).
Eligibility
Candidates holding Bachelors’ degree in any undergraduate programme and are interested in majoring in human rights, democracy building and democratization may apply for the Human Rights and Democratization Master Program. The program has no age limitations. International students are most welcome to apply and study at the Center for European Studies.
All applications will be review and evaluate according to the following selection criteria:
- Academic merit (Educational background, CV);
- Motivation: Interest in human rights and democratization issues;
- Provided written paper;
- Commitment to idea of voluntarism and social involvement;
- Experience in relevant fields.
All successful candidates will be shortlisted and invited for interviews.
Scholarship
The scholarship includes cover of travel expenses (up to EUR 600) and monthly stipend for living expenses and accommodation. The amount of scholarship will vary depending on the country of study (EUR 400, EUR 500 and EUR600).
